Mission: To demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ by loving others, meeting them in their current situation, and offering support by meeting their spiritual, physical, and emotional needs.
Everyone is welcome
Everyone is welcome at Crestwood Church and to our Wednesday meal. You don't have to have all your stuff together to come here. We accept you just as you are. Church is where you find support and learn how to get your stuff together. You don't have to do it alone. We are all growing together.
Join us for a FREE meal every Wednesday evening at 6 pm.
We serve a hot, fresh, balanced meal every Wednesday evening. Prior to the meal we have a short message and time of prayer. After the meal we offer hot showers to anyone who is homeless. Our food pantry is open anyone who has a need.
Downtown Pick Up
The pick up location is the downtown DART Station at 620 Cherry Street. We transport people to the meal between 5:00 and 5:45. Return transportation is provided after the meal.
Crestwood Church hosts a Hungry and Homeless Outreach every Wednesday evening where we provide a meal for the needy and hungry in our area. Currently, we are serving an average of fifty-five people each week. We go to a pickup spot downtown and transport an average of twenty homeless people who are not staying in any shelter to come to the meal. Following the meal, the homeless individuals may take a hot shower. Those who take a shower are offered new socks, new underwear, and personal hygiene items.
Every Wednesday we share God’s Word through a short message before our meal. Following the meal some people take a shower and we offer whatever supplies that we have on hand. In addition to the meal and showers we also maintain a small food pantry that is open to all who have needs. Bibles are available to anyone who would like one.
Volunteers from our church and other churches help run this ministry outreach by cooking the meals, preparing the facility,
running the shower stations, operating the food pantry, and by providing transportation to and from our church. We even have people who come in to provide free haircuts once a month. Volunteers from the Iowa Harm Reduction Coalition on hand to talk to individuals about their substance abuse issues, show them ways to minimize their risks and pint them towards treatment options.
Our outreach program is sponsored financially through donations to the program. Please pray to see if God is leading you to support our ministry in some way. We accept donations of non-perishable food items, new socks & underwear, toiletry items, Bibles, and financial contributions. With your support we will be able to continue sharing the Good News, offering a good meal, and meeting the immediate physical needs of some of the most needy in our community.
We invite you to join us on any Wednesday evening to see for yourself the ways that God is using our church to minister to our community.
