Memorial Service for Perry Sims

Welcome and Prayer Reading of the Obituary Eulogy Message Song "Hymn of Heaven" Perry Herman Sims, 65, passed away January 16, 2023 at home. He passed just one month from his 66th birthday. Perry was born February 16, 1957 in Bainbridge, Maryland to his parents Perry and Kathryn (Humphrey) Sims. Perry graduated from Temple Texas High school in 1975. He attended Temple Junior College and graduated in 1980 with a degree in vocal music. Perry was retired from Wells Fargo. He enjoyed working with youth and serving on the worship band at church. He shared his love of Christ through his singing and helping with youth camps. Perry enjoyed playing and watching sports especially baseball, “Go Cubs”! He is in the San Diego Little League Hall of Fame. Perry also enjoyed taking his sons on hunting and camping trips. Perry is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Lynne (Chichester) Sims; sons, Joshua Isaiah Sims and Christopher Austin (Cera Olson) Sims; parents, Perry and Kathryn Sims; sister, Joy Laryn (David) Julian; brother, Kendall (Susie) Sims; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeremiah Nathaniel Sims; grandparents; and nephew, Charles Perry Myers. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 20, 2023 at Crestwood Baptist Church, 3717 Forest Avenue, Des Moines.
